Is Cultural Heritage a Development Opportunity?

Association of Historic Towns of Slovenia in the cooperation with partners of the project diStory, Digital stories of Small Historic Towns, and Ministry of Culture organized an international conference CULTURAL HERITAGE AS DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY.

Is Cultural Heritage a Development Opportunity?

The conference was also a celebration of  European year of Cultural heritage 2018 and was prepared by diStory Partner 2 Zdruzenje zgodovinskih mest Slovenije as an extra activity in the project for better dissemination.

As special guests of the conference their vision on conference topic gave:

Brian Smith, general secretary Heritage Europe, European association of old towns and regions, Norwich, Great Britan

Dr. Augusto Palombini, a researcher on Institute for Applied Technologies for Cultural Heritage Roma, Italy

Gianluca Bellucci, director of Sistema Museo, Italy.

Other speakers addressed questions about interpretation, use of digital technologies in connection with cultural heritage, cultural heritage in the promotion of tourism, marketing of heritage. Also, cases of best practices were presented.

The wish was that at the end of the conference we will be able to share the awareness that preserving the cultural heritage enables the economic and social development of our cities and communities, as the members of the Association of Historical Towns of Slovenia wrote at the time of its establishment in 2001.
